On Wednesday, former Maharashtra chief minister Thackeray said the Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) alliance experiment led by him was not wrong and people had welcomed it.
In the second part of his interview to Shiv Sena mouthpiece ‘Saamana’, Thackeray said he wants not just local body polls in Maharashtra, but also an early Assembly poll as he claimed that the Sena will have its own CM once again. He also announced that he will tour the state to rejuvenate the party cadre.
The BJP is giving everything to those who have come from other parties – from the post of chief minister (Sena rebel Eknath Shinde) to leader of opposition (which is currently held by NCP’s Ajit PAwar), said Thackeray.
“Delhi wants to instigate a Shiv Sena versus Shiv Sena fight and divide the Marathi-speaking people. If the present rulers fear the opposition, it is their inefficiency. In a democracy, no party is a permanent winner,” he said.
Last month, Sena MLA Eknath Shinde along with 39 other party legislators and some independents revolted against the Sena leadership, leading to the collapse of the Thackeray-led MLA government.
Shinde was sworn in as the chief minister on June 30 and BJP leader Devendra Fadnavis as his deputy. Thackeray said “people had welcomed the MVA experiment” and that the three-party alliance was born out of the BJP’s denial of what was assured to him.
He further alleged that the past two years witnessed a surge in riots sparked by fake WhatsApp messages, coupled with threats targeting businesses by criminal elements pointing it to be the current state of affairs in the state.
His main focus was on removing the weakness of India’s youth of the time, both physical and mental. And to gain strength, he suggested physical exercise or attaining knowledge. For him, strength is life, and weakness is death; for all the problems of India, whether social or political, the solution is self-respect in India’s culture and philosophy.

He was against religious dogmas and superstitions; he continuously argued against prevailing social evils in his speeches and lectures. He was more confident about women’s ability to change the fortune of India; he proclaimed that with the help of 50 women, he could transform India into a modern, forward-looking nation.
However, his real contribution to India was to revive the true meaning of Hinduism; he propagated the real philosophy and culture of India to the world at the Parliament of the World’s Religions in Chicago in 1893; through his lectures and speeches all over the world proved that Hindu religion is no inferior to anyone; at

The Uttarakhand Assembly on Wednesday, passed the Uniform Civil Code Bill, introduced by the Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami-led government. With this, Uttarakhand has become the first state in India to pass such a law.
Even after the Opposition’s demand to refer the Bill to the select committee of the House, the Uttarakhand Assembly passed the UCC Bill. The Bill which will now become an act after the President’s assent, will replace the old personal law that governs marriage, divorce, succession and live-in relationships.
In 2024, a committee was formed by the Dhami-led government to prepare the draft of the UCC Bill. The committee comprised of a five-member panel headed by the retired judge of the Supreme Court Ranjana Prakash Desai.
The former Chief Justice of Sikkim High Court Permod Kohli, social activist Manu Gaur, retired IAS officer Shatrughan Singh, and Doon University Vice-Chancellor Surekha Dangwal were the other members of the committee.
The implementation of the UCC Bill comes ahead of the 2024 Lok Sabha elections. According to reports, the Centre may bring a similar law at the national level. The reports further suggest that BJP-ruled states like Assam and Gujarat are already planning to bring UCC in their respective states.
With this Bill, there will be a common law for marriage, divorce, and inheritance of property among others. Earlier, it was governed by personal laws of every religion. The UCC bars the bigamy and polygamy.

Talking to reporters, Fadnavis said, “The Chief Minister will be able to clarify on this, but I can only say as of now that Bhujbal’s resignation has not been accepted by the Chief Minister or me.”
Bhujbal, who belongs to the Ajit Pawar-led faction of the NCP, on Saturday reiterated that he is not opposed to Marathas getting the reservation but is against sharing the existing quota for the OBCs.
“I will work for the welfare of OBCs and their rights throughout my life. There is no need to demand my resignation or kick me out as some opposition leaders and those from my alliance are demanding. I quit on November 16 last year,” he said.
“I was silent on the issue for two-and-a-half months because the chief minister and the deputy chief minister had asked me not to speak about it,” he added.
A Shiv Sena MLA from the Eknath Shinde camp had said Bhujbal should be sacked for trying to create a rift in society.

Speaking about his operation and protracted sickness, which Uddhav claims Shinde took advantage of, Uddhav stated that after his surgery, he could not even move.
“I will always live with this painful reality. I entrusted someone with the party, and gave him the status of number 2. I had trusted you (Shinde) to take care of the party, you broke that trust, that too when I was in the hospital,” Uddhav said.
However, the opposition party, the Nationalist Congress Party, added a political twist to the occasion by cutting a cake that was shaped like a “khokha,” which is street lingo for a crore.
Shinde became CM with the help of the Bharatiya Janata Party in June last year after he and 39 Shiv Sena MLAs rebelled against Uddhav Thackeray and brought down the Maha Vikas Aghadi government.
