When you meet fellow Jews before or on Passover, you want to wish them a happy Passover. But what to say?

On Passover, when everyone is busy trying to keep their homes (and themselves) leaven-free and kosher for Passover, we wish each other a “kosher and joyous Passover.”

In Hebrew it’s “chag Pesach kasher vesame’ach” (pronounced: CHAG PEH-sach kah-SHER ve-sah-MAY-ach).

May this Passover bring you peace, freedom, and a renewed sense of purpose.

Happy Passover! May your home be filled with love, joy, and blessings.

May the spirit of Passover bring you hope and strength to face any challenge.

If you prefer to use the most popular expressions to wish your friends and colleagues a Happy Passover, these greetings are perfect for you. Although they may seem a bit superficial, they are commonly used and native.

Thoughtful Passover Greetings

Passover is a joyful occasion. If you prefer to use an English expression, “Happy Passover” is perfect. If you want to show your interest in or understanding of Jewish culture, you may choose to use the Jewish expression of ‘Happy Passover’, which is Chag Pesach sameach.

This greeting can be used not only for Passover but also for other joyful Jewish festivals, such as Hanukkah. It is a versatile greeting that conveys well wishes for any festive occasion.

Pesach (pronounced /pay-suk/) is the Hebrew word for Passover. This wish is similar to the expression “Happy Passover” but by using the Hebrew word, you can show your friends, colleagues, and others your interest in and understanding of their culture.

Compared to the simple “Happy Passover”, this greeting is more formal. It is suitable to send to those who are strict observers of Passover.

It acknowledges those who keep their homes kosher for Passover by removing all chametz, or leavened grains, from their residence in advance of the holiday. It conveys wishes for a religiously/spiritually acceptable and joyous celebration.

Passover Wishes

If the above wishes seem too cliché to you and you are looking for more personal and unique ways to impress your friends, colleagues, and others to show your thoughtfulness and care, the following creative expressions are best for you:

you a Passover that is as joyous and uplifting as the springtime.

May your Passover be a time of reflection, gratitude, and spiritual growth.

Chag ha-matzot sameach! (Happy Festival of Matzah in Hebrew)

In Yiddish, you’ll greet others with “a koshern un freilichen Pesach” (pronounced: KUH-sher-in OON FRAY-lech-in PAY-sach).

An alternative pre-Passover wish is for “a zissen Pesach,” a sweet Passover.

(Note: in these transliterations, “ch” represents a sound similar to the one in “loch” or “Bach.”)

The following greetings are for pretty much any Jewish holiday:

“May your life is charged with happiness and success on this auspicious occasion of Passover…. May these festive days bring in more positivity and prosperity to you and your dear ones…. With loads of warmth and love, wishing you a wonderful Passover.”

Happy Passover Messages

“On the occasion of Passover, I wish that all your problems come to an end and you rejoice moments of happiness with the culture and tradition….. Wishing you a rich and bountiful Passover filled with gifts and blessings from your loved ones.”

“Time to sing beautiful songs, time to enjoy Matzos, time to dine with your loved one has finally arrived….. May you enjoy the best of the feast with your family and friends on the occasion of Passover….. Wishing you a very Happy Passover…. May you have a great time!!!”

Faith and tradition form the cornerstone of many individuals’ lives. When you’re certain that an employee observes and celebrates Passover, sending them a message imbued with spiritual sentiments can be deeply touching.

However, even in this context, it’s pivotal to maintain an air of professionalism, setting the right boundaries between personal and professional relationships.

Passover is normally a time to gather with family and friends, but this year many seders will look different than they usually do. People will once again opt to get together by remaining physically apart, but the essence of the seder will remain the same.

Passover Wishes

Sending you lots of love and warm hugs because it is an occasion worth celebrating…. Happy Passover to you my dear friend.”

If you want to send someone festive greetings for Passover, there are a number of ways you can go about it.

The most traditional of these is to say ‘chag sameach’, a standard, all-purpose Hebrew greeting which you can apply to any Jewish festival – it simply means ‘happy holiday’.

To translate, ‘Chag’ means Jewish holiday, while ‘sameach’ means happy, derived from the Hebrew word ‘simcha’ which means celebration (a word often used by Jewish people in conjunction with Barmitzvah and Batmitzvah parties as well as weddings and other significant parties).

However this would apply only to the first two days and last two days of Passover, as Yom Tov – a term meaning ‘festival day’ – refers only to specific festival days on which work and other activities are forbidden.

Passover Greetings

The middle four days of Passover are known as ‘chol hamoed’ (which technically translates as ‘mundane of the festival’ – when the dietary laws of the festival still apply but work and other normal activities can resume.

“May you have a Passover showered with blessings and love for you and your family….. Best wishes on Passover to you.”

“May you have a great blast on the occasion of Passover…. Wishing you good times and sweet memories on this special occasion!!!”

“Sending you best wishes on Passover…. May you are blessed with success and happiness in your life.”

“I wish that our bond of friendship gets stronger with each passing day…. May this Passover shower its blessings on our friendship.”

Happy Passover my love! I thank God every day as He ties my life with yours. I am happy to call you mine.

Passover Wishes

Chag Sameach, my dear! I wish this festive season to be a significant and blessed time for both of us. Stay blessed in this Passover, love!

“Passover affirms the great truth that liberty is the inalienable right of every human being.” » Morris Joseph

“And his disciples went forth, and came into the city, and found as he had said unto them: and they made ready the Passover.” » Jesus Christ – Bible

“Passover and Easter are the only Jewish and Christian holidays that move in sync, like the ice skating pairs we saw during the winter Olympics.” » Marvin Olasky

Seders are guided by a book called a Haggadah and traditionally begins with the lighting of the candles. Prayers are said over the candles, as well as, for the wine, which is known as the Kiddush, and the parsley, bitter herb and matzo.

Ways to Celebrate Passover

Each of the items on the seder plate, which serves as the focal point of the seders, including the parsley, bitter herb, and matzo has a symbolic meaning. During Passover,

Jewish people eat matzo instead of leavened bread because when the Jews fled Egypt they didn’t have time to wait for bread to rise.

Dipping parsley in salt water serves as a reminder of the tears that were shed as slaves and the bitter herb, also called maror, reminds observers of the bitterness of slavery.

Also on the seder plate is a lamb shank to represent the Paschal sacrifice, a roasted egg as a symbol of the holiday sacrifice offering and the cycle of life and charoset, which is indicative of the mortar and brick the Jews made for Pharaoh.

Delight in the celebration and traditions of Passover this year.

Passover has a message for the conscience and the heart of all mankind. For what does it commemorate? It commemorates the deliverance of a people from degrading slavery, from most foul and cruel tyranny. And so, it is Israel’s – nay, God’s protest against unrighteousness, whether individual or national.

And his disciples went forth, and came into the city, and found as he had said unto them: and they made ready the Passover. – The Bible
